Gertrude has lived in Strangerville for as long as she can remember. Once all the strange things started to happen, she asked her daughter Lilly to move back in, along with Lilly's husband Derek and their son Jason. Gertrude told her daughter she can change as much of the upstairs as she likes, just leave the bottom floor the same.
