I don't typically build modern style houses and I haven't designed a big house in a couple years. Every sim can have it's own bedroom if desired. There's an office for my stylist sim and a home gym. Also I have so many bathrooms because it was driving me crazy that they all came home around the same time and needed the bathroom so most bedrooms have an en suite.
