For Aurora I wanted to split the house into the colours that her dress turns and then used gold and white to accent as well as a lot of plants and flowers to represent her connect to the forest&animals. For Maleficent, I went a lot simpler and went to create some of the scenes that you see in the movie, so I added Prince Philip's cell and used the gnomes to represent her "minions" lurking.
