The Medieval Castles that invaders constructed had their own private studies and libraries with books they brought with them. The few books rescued from that turmoil were hidden in plain view amid the displays of a furniture shop showroom with patrons posing as shoppers, furniture craftsmen and sculptors. (my story-line's transition from Early Civ to Medieval Era)
