The famous #oak of the Oaken Plantation House was planted by the founder of the #plantation, Thomas Oaken, in 1786. The #tree was planted to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the #Independance of the United States, as the tree of #liberty. It is under this oak that Alexander Oaken gave his slaves their liberty back, in 1856. It is now the task of every successor of the Oaken family to preserve this tree and Liberty.
