This is a mid-1600s manor house, extensively expanded and re-worked in the Victorian era. The original austere street-facing house and tower were re-aligned with a large extension to have a grander river-front entrance; this was largely a failure due to the arrival of the motor-car. The ghost of the last Earl of Splay is rumoured to haunt the tower rooms. This property is sold unfurnished due to liquidation of the estate. #castle #haunted #historic
