The "shirtwaist" style house is an architectual style unique to Kansas City, USA. Mostly built between 1900-1920, these homes feature large porches, an abundance of architectual details, and a first level clad in stone or brick to distinguish from the second level (lending to the "shirtwaist" name - imagine a shirt tucked into trousers).
