This hotel was originally owned by Sir Nicholas and his wife and daughter. When his daughter died in a tragic fire, he didn't try to rebuild the hotel, but instead let it wither away. It was his wife who motivated him to rebuild the hotel in honour of his daughter. For that reason he included memoriphilia of his late daughter and wife in the hotel; including roses and sculptures.
