Burla owned and operated a little convenience store that sat at the end of her driveway, and directly across the road from the ferry wharf. Her only other neighbor in sight was the string of fishermen's shacks that hugged the shoreline. She was fond of children, and we of her. Sometimes she'd let us sit behind the counter and chat with her, while we ate our treats and she waited on customers; which we all thought was great fun. ~ Yes, this is a real place. #EastFerry #Digby #NovaScotia #Canada
