When Jan's grandma died, she inherited a run down bar in Oasis Springs. Jan was determined to restore it to it's former dive-y glory, so she moved to Oasis Springs and worked on it day and night. Jan obviously developed an epic tan, and people passing by would always yell "Bar's lookin' good, Tan Jan!". Delighted at her obvious acceptance of her new community, she kept the name.
