Dr. Patricia Bath
Dr. Patricia Bath is the first African-American woman to recieve a patent for a medical purpose. In 1981, she invented the Laserphaco Probe, which allows lasers to remove cataracts, Anybody who has had Lasik eye surgery, can thank Dr. Bath.
