Petra's mom was a single mom and a robotics engineer. She created Servo and fell in love with him. When she died, Servo stayed to raise Petra and in the meantime found love again with Patchy. Now Petra is grown with her own husband & kids but Patchy & Servo are still there too. Complicated but never boring.
