The St. Bernard was bred as a working dog. The original had a longer snout, less wrinkled forehead, less flew length, and far less extreme eye droop. They are iconically pictured with a barrel of rum around their neck. They make good watch dogs. The breed was created by St. Bernard de Menthon by mixing various molosser, mastiff, and now extinct breeds.
