Red pandas are an endangered species that live in the Himalayas. They are not related to the black-and-white panda and are a lot smaller only slightly bigger than a house cat, Though both are bamboo eating animals, red pandas were orignally thought to belong to the raccoon family due to their similar characteristics. In later DNA research, red pandas were placed in the bear family. But other research places the red panda in its own family: Ailuridae. #redpanda #racoon #bear
