When Alasca LaMode started to lose her sight in her teenage years, people told her she could not pursue her dream of designing clothes. 50 years later, Alasca became famous with her clothing line "Blind Phoenix". She creates fashion that stands out optically as well as physically which she achieves by using many colours, different materials and tactile stimuli (buttons, chains, zippers, studs, layers etc.).
