Akira Ibe is a photographer and the one who brought Eiji from japan to New York to interview a street gang, wich Ash was the leader. Eiji was an Athlete before he came to NY, but unfortunatly, he hurt his leg, and then he couldn't practice anymore, He was really depressed and that's why he brought him.
