Alvin Tanner is a veteran, in his younger days when he served his country was he a pilot in the airforce. Alvin loves airplanes and has used most of his life flying. Alvin never needed a woman in his life, he had his aircraft "Betty" which he have had for nearly 50 years now. He does sometimes think about how it would have been with a wife at his side and grandchildren, but he knows he have had a great and happy life and does not regret it.
