The Akita is an originally Japanese breed that has been bred for guarding work, hunting large game, and the cruel act of pitting dog against dog. American and Candian lines tend to be heavier boned, with even more bear like features. Some dog aggression/same sex dog aggression is not uncommon in the breed.
