Sitting Bull
#SittingBull (#Lakota: Thatáŋka Íyotake, "#buffalo who set #himself to #watch over the #herd", ~1831 – December 15, 1890) was a Lakota #performer and #leader who led the #Hunkpapa #people during years of #resistance against #UnitedStates #government #policies. He was #murdered by #agents of the #Bureau of #Indian #Affairs (BIA) on the #Standing #Rock #Reservation during an #attempt to #arrest him, at a time when #American #authorities #feared that he would join the #GhostDance #movement.
