Kashaya is from the Dry Creek Rancheria tribe of Pomo Indians. Growing up, she savored fashion magazines but was frustrated she never saw herself reflected in the images. While attending the Fashion Institute, Kashaya was discovered by a model scout. At first she was told her look would never work but now she is signed with Simhelmina Models.
