#USISLANDCHALLENGE This is Valerie Paulson and Bernard Paulson. Bernard is her elderly father who she had been caring for her whole life. Bernard had been sick since Valerie was little, but when they got onto the island, his sickness magically went away. Valerie still feels the need to care for her father, but he doesn't seem to want to build a relationship anymore. Valerie was an aspiring writer, never able to keep a stable relationship because she was always caring for Bernard.
