Mary & Christy have been friends since Kindergarten, so close they are almost like sisters. Because of their names, they always sat next to each other in school, so they figured they might as well be friends. They got along well, despite some of their differences. When it was time to enter the world on their own, they didn't think twice about it, of course they would live together.
