Once a member of the Wozwith's School of Spellcasting quartet, she was rejected from their friendship after professing her love of dark spellcasting. Ruth left Glimmerbrook with a grudge and a new attitude to friendships. She moved to Strangerville and began working at the only place anyone would accept her: the Bazaar.
