Dorothy Jean (called Dot) was named after the famous actress Dorothy Dandridge. She was the first woman of color to be nominated for an Academy Award.Her mother talked so much about her that her interest in acting grew. Dot gave her first performance in front of her family at the age of 8. She continued on learning and getting better at acting until one day Dorothy Jean was accepting her own Academy Award for best actress.
