Yoshiko Kawashima (1907-1948) was a princess, spy, military commander, and bohemian all within one relatively short lifetime. Her story is too long to relate here but she was known to be intelligent, beautiful, and domineering, wearing male clothes and getting her way even in an extremely conservative society.
