The assassination attempt was a bust, landing the SEEDs involved in prison. Upon their escape, they learned of plans to destroy the Gardens in retaliation via missiles. They split in two groups: Squall's team went to warn Balamb Garden while Selphie's team went to sabotage the Missile Base. Garden became mobile, but crashed at FH due to a broken steering device.
