The final battle between Cloud and Sepiroth occurred beneath the depths of the planet with Cloud being victorious. Aerith survived her injuries and was able to summon holy. It's powers not only pushed meteor back, thus saving the planet, it also restored Sepiroth's mind healing his madness.
