Born intersex, Ainsley has always had a complex relationship with their gender identity. Their birth parents decided they wanted a son so Ainsley was forced to present as male for their early childhood and was punished whenever they wanted to do something "girly'. During their years in the foster system, they felt pressured to choose "girl or boy?" but neither ever felt right. Now they realize it doesn't have to be that way, and have never felt freer to explore their diverse interests. #ESBach
