Count Strahd von Zarovich hails from Barovia, which he rules from the imposing parapets of Castle Ravenloft. Long ago, Strahd coveted Tatyana, the fiancee of his brother Sergei, and so struck a deal with ancient gods of evil to become a vampire, kill Sergei, and attempt to take Tatyana as his bride.
