I'm pretty sure that I was a Cass Elliot fan before i was born. Her song, "Different", which she sang in the movie, "H.R. Puffinstuff, haunted me for years. I had all of her albums - the old fashined vinyl type :P - even from before she joined the Mama's & Papa's. Contrary to popular belief, she did not die from choking on a sandwich.
