For being unemployed it seemed he was becoming a constant fixture at Jabba's Palace & always placing big bets on the Rancor Pit. Something smelled! After investigation, Jabba found Cringe was funding his stay by stealling from his hut(no pun intended!). Impressed that he was doing this under his nose, he gave Cringe a job as a smuggler.
