The morrigan are three "hag" sisters in Irish mythology which represent the frenzied terror of battle. Badb takes the form of a crow (badb in fact means crow), a harbinger of doom. Macha is more benign, associated with sovreignity, horses, and the land. Nemain is said to cause confusion among troops, instilling enough terror that they attack their own. #mythology
