The son of Loki and the giantress Angrboða, he was named by her for his father she jibed. Fenrir or Fenrisúlfr means "Wolf of The Underworld". When Loki learned that his headstrong son intended to visit Earth, he suggested that Fenrir take the surname Einerr, which means "Lone Warrior". Fenrir was just that, even on Asgard as Loki's son.
