Growing up, Irene didn't have many friends. Her parents thought friends = partying, and partying = bad grades so that was out of the question. Irene lived in a strict home: Curfew is 8 every night, no boyfriends (or friends in general), and basically no fun. Since Irene was their only child they expected the best from her.
