In Greek mythology, Medusa became that snake lady because she was in love with Posidon. At the time Medusa was a follower of Athena and stayed at the shrine all day. One day she uh *got giggy* with Posidon in Athena's shrine so as punishment Athena turned her hair to snakes and made it so anyone she looks upon will become stone.
