EleanorRoosevelt was an American political figure, diplomat, and activist. She persevered through much personal trauma starting in childhood with the deaths of both her parents and a brother. When she discovered her husband President Franklin Roosevelt's affair she resolved to seek fulfillment in a public life of her own advocating aid for the poor, expanded roles of women in the workplace, the civil rights of African Americans and WWII refugees.
