The coyote (Canis latrans) is a species of canine native to North America. It is smaller than its closest relatives, the red wolf (Canis rufus) and the Eastern wolf (Canis lupus lycaon,) ranging from 7 to 20kg. Due to hybridization with dog populations, the coyote can come in many colors and patterns, including all black, but most are light in color.
