The Weimeraner was created in Europe in the early 1800s as a hunting dog for large game such as bears, cougars, and wolves. Now they are used as an all purpose hunter including deer and birds, and even retriever. They tend to be a higher energy breed. Most love to have a job, altough they can be distractable when training. They can make surprisingly good guard dog.
