Shortly before Christmas, affluent crime lord Bert Alto, backed by his brother Nick, asks Angelo for investment in his narcotics business and protection through his political connections in Oasis Springs. Wary of involvement in a dangerous new trade that could risk alienating political insiders, Angelo declines. Suspicious, Angelo sends his enforcer Luca Brasi to spy on Alto.
